Cooked ham is one of the most popular dishes of Polish cuisine. It’s delicious whether it’s served hot or cold. Cold cooked ham can be a side dish to elegant breakfasts. In those cases, it can be served with mayonnaise and horseradish. It perfectly enhances the taste of fresh bread. Hot cooked ham can be served in slices with cranberry jam or boiled beetroot.
Boil the water in a saucepan. Then add marjoram, black pepper, sweet paprika, crushed garlic cloves, allspice berries and bay leaves into the saucepan. You can also use other spices that you like best.
When the water begins to boil, put the ham in the pot and cook it on low heat for about 60 minutes with lid on. At the end of cooking, add a pinch of salt (but this is not necessary because smoked ham is often already salted). The ham prepared in this way can be served both hot and cold. Bon Appétit!
