Doughnuts are one of the most popular confectionery products in our country. They are considerably popular, not only on Fat Thursday. In addition to doughnuts with rose and jam, there are also ones with fillings made of chocolate, pudding or exotic fruits. Overseas shines doughnut’s cousin – donut, which resembles a doughnut with a hole in the middle. With our recipe you will prepare unique doughnuts in your own kitchen.

Ingredients:

  • 1.1 pound cake flour
  • 1.1 pound lard
  • 1.7 oz. sugar
  • 1 oz. yeast
  • 1.7 oz. butter
  • 5 chicken egg yolks
  • 250 ml milk
  • a pinch of salt
  • 1 tablespoon vodka/spirit
  • thick jam or marmalade
  • powdered sugar

Preparation:

  • Grind yeast with 2 tablespoons of sugar. Add about 125 ml of warm milk and 2 tablespoons of flour. Mix everything. Let stand for 15 minutes.
  • Mix egg yolks with remaining sugar. Sift the flour. Add milk, salt and alcohol. Then add the yeast to the mixture.
  • Knead the dough with a mixer for about 8 minutes.
  • Melt butter and add to the dough. Put the dough in a warm place to rise for about 70 minutes until it doubles its initial size.
  • Tear off small pieces from the dough and form rings with cavities, in which you put jam or marmalade – about half a teaspoon per doughnut. Put the sides of the doughnuts together. Leave the doughnuts to rise for 45 minutes.
  • Warm up the lard and fry doughnuts for about 3 minutes on each side. Before serving, drain off extra fat, putting doughnuts on a paper towel and then sprinkle each doughnut with powdered sugar.
